An excellent opportunity for an experienced Transport Scheduler to join this innovative, rapidly growing freight logistics solutions provider located in Alexandria (moving soon to Mascot)

The role

Your scheduling experience within the transport industry will be highly valued as you manage the day-to-day transport service demands of the customer. 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the day to day transport service demands of the customer sites from receipt of transport orders to allocation to carriers, execution and receipt of PoD (proof of delivery) from carriers via electronic or other means per set standard operating procedures, use of systems and business processes;
  • Use of TMS (Transport Management System) – OPSI PLATO optimisation module to schedule , load build, capacity, route and drop routine optimise the transport orders before allocating to carriers;
  • Use of TMS to rate optimise the order allocations;
  • Use of carrier desktop/mobile web portal as main communication interface between the company and the carriers;
  • Day to day operational exception management to ensure customer DIFOT is achieved;
  • Provide timely and high quality service to customers that meet or exceeds the service promise;
  • Use excellent judgement and highly developed analytical skills to deliver high quality decisions; and

The person

  • Experience/Knowledge minimum 2 years
  • Knowledge of Australian road transport industry and carriers  
  • Knowledge and/or experience in using transport order management, allocation and execution business systems
  • Exercising sound judgement to make consistent and robust decisions
  • Demonstrated customer service focus, including the ability to adapt service level and style to meet the differing needs of customers
  • Experience in working with multi-faceted customer and supplier environment to carry out day to day responsibilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of road transport service delivery through use of optimisation and work flow systems and use of capacity available from carriers;
  • Exposure to forestry industry transport would be an advantage

Skills

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate with multiple carriers with varying degree of communication capabilities to meet the customer service demands on timely manner
  • Excellent self-management skills, including working effectively without direct supervision, managing and organising fluctuating workloads in sometimes stressful situations
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines in line with good customer service principles
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and establish working relationships inside and outside the organisation
  • Good keyboard and phone communication skills
