General Policy
The occupational health and safety of all persons employed by Workforce International and those visiting the organisation is considered to be of the utmost importance. Resources in line with the importance attached to occupational health and safety will be made available so that we comply with all relevant Acts and Regulations and ensure that each workplace where our employees work is safe and without risk to health.
The promotion and maintenance of occupational health and safety is primarily a management responsibility .Management, client service and operations staff at every level within our organisation are required to contribute to the health and safety of all Workforce International employees wherever they are employed and visitors to Workforce International's premises.
Occupational Health & Safety Program
In order to implement the general provisions of this policy, a program of activities and procedures will be established, continually reviewed, updated and effectively executed. The program will relate to all aspects of occupational health and safety including:
- work place inspections and evaluations
- employee induction, training and education
- work design, workplace design and standard work methods
- changes to work place methods and practice
- safety rules - including penalties
- emergency procedures and drills
- provision and use of OH&S equipment, services and facilities
- procedures for the reporting of incidents, accidents, injuries and work place-related illnesses
- provision of information to employees
Management and Supervisory Responsibilities
(a) Each Workforce International manager is required to ensure that this policy and the Occupational Health and Safety Program are effectively implemented in their area of control. They must also support customer service representatives and hold them responsible for their specific responsibilities.
(b) Each Workforce International customer service representative is responsible for taking all practical measures to ensure that:
- every Workforce International client work place within their territory is safe and free of risks to the health of our employees
- every Workforce International employee new to a client's workplace, or returning to that work place following a break of more than three months, has been provided with a thorough induction to that site, with special attention to all OH&S requirements.
More specifically:
- Workforce International customer service representatives will work with our clients to identify any unsafe or unhealthy work place conditions and/or practices at client work places and work with the client to remedy such conditions
- if a Workforce International customer service representative does not have the necessary authority to fix a problem, they must report the matter promptly, together with any recommendations for remedial action, to a manager who does have the necessary responsibility.
(c) Workforce International Supervisors and managers who have the necessary authority to fix any workplace health or safety problem will be held accountable for taking prompt remedial action to eliminate any unsafe or unhealthy work place conditions, practices or behaviour.
(d) All Workforce International Employees are required to observe and cooperate with the Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Programs to ensure their own health and safety and the health and safety of others in the work place and to observe all directions on health and safety from designated Workforce International or client supervisors and managers. Failure to do so may be considered sufficient grounds for termination.
(e) All Workforce International Contractors and Sub-contractors engaged to perform work on the company's premises or at Workforce International's clients' premises are required to comply with Workforce International's occupational health and safety policies, procedures and programs and to observe all directions on health and safety from designated Workforce International or client supervisors and managers. Failure to do so may be considered a breach of contract and sufficient grounds for termination of the contract.
