ABOUT THE ROLE

As an EI&C Electrical Supervisor you will be required to:

  • perform maintenance tasks within the Electrical, Instrumentation and Control areas, and
  • meet daily production generation requirements, reliability and safety targets.

As a Technician,  your major contribution will be becoming an integral part of the maintenance work force to ensure its outputs meet generation requirements. This position requires a flexible approach, as you are required to ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is performed, and to meet contingencies as these occur. You will achieve this by working professionally with all the team members and other teams as required to meet the appropriate standards; to ensure task compliance; provide initiative; and participate actively in the activities of the maintenance team.  

In carrying out your role, there will be numerous important relationships that you will need to build and manage constructively, apart from that with your immediate Maintenance Supervisor.  These include, other Technicians, Systems Technicians, Engineers, Electrical and Mechanical Tradespeople and Utility Workers within the site Maintenance teams.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure a safe work place for the EI&C team and ensure environmental policies are adhered to.
  • Maintain agreed team goals and accountabilities, including behaviour standards for EI&C team members and assist in their development.
  • Establish and develop professional working relationships with team members and other employees.
  • Ensure all electrical and instrument work is undertaken professionally in accordance with the relevant asset strategies and plant strategies and safety policies and standards.
  • Investigations and maintenance to be performed in designated areas of plant using a range of tools and test equipment.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improving plant performance.
  • Ensure electrical maintenance work meets established technical standards and all compliance needs.
  • Provide coaching advice to apprentices and maintain day-to-day quality and safety of the work group.
  • Carry out Electrical and Instrumentation work within the schedule and provide progress and completion feedback to supervisor and scheduler.
  • Contribute to implementation and development of weekly plan.
  • Monitor and report your plant area performance against plan and recommend remedial action as necessary.
  • Plan and organise minor plant area improvements.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Some travel for training purposes may be required.
  • Participation in the call-out roster.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • A current Queensland Electrical Work License as an Electrical Fitter / Mechanic is mandatory.
  • Possession of, or progression towards, Dual trade in Instrumentation or an Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Planned and preventative maintenance of electrical equipment (preferably in a Heavy Industry or Power Generation environment).
  • Programmable logic controllers, instrumentation and DCS controls.
  • Experience with electrical work within zoned hazardous areas.
  • High Voltage Switching experience – preparing, checking and executing switching and plant isolation programs.
